Which Spraydeck Should I Choose?
Over the years, MRS has developed a variety of spraydecks. Choosing the type of spraydeck will depend on your context and how you will be using your packraft.
C Deck
This is the standard deck that comes with the Microraft, Microraft XL and the Adventure X2. It has velcro on one side and a zipper on the other. The advantage is that the velcro makes it quick and easy to get in and out. The disadvantage is that the velcro is not fully waterproof. The C deck comes with an inflatable area in front of the paddler that is intended to keep water away.
D Deck
The D Deck has a waterproof zipper on both sides. This option is standard on the Nomad, and is available on the Microraft as well as Barracuda R2 and Barracuda R2 Pro. On the Nomad and Barracuda R2/R2 Pro, the D deck is fully removable. On the Microraft, it is removable on 3 sides so that it can be rolled up on the front of your packraft when you don't need or want to use it.
E Deck
The E Deck has velcro on both sides. It is an option on the Microraft and the Microraft XL. Like the C Deck, it also comes with an inflatable area in front of the padder, but it is concealed.
L Deck
The is a light deck and is available on the Surveyor. It is made of lighter fabric and is also lighter as it is attached with velcro points, instead of a long strip of velcro.
W Deck
If you are going to be in a lot of whitewater or want a fully waterproof spraydeck, this is what you probably want. It is available in the Alligator and Alligator Pro models and is an option in the Barracuda R2 and R2 Pro.
Sprayskirts
The W and D decks come with a removable sprayskirt that adds another level of waterproofing.
We hope this helps your selection process. As always, if you have any questions, we're here for you.
